The Country That Shall Not Be Named
I had an interesting conversation today with an Israeli-American colleague in Tel Aviv. One thing that stood out to me is that both of us noticed a complete absence of any discussion about Israel in our feeds, even after October 7.
Coming from an American national security background, with about 90% of my professional network being in similar fields, I found it striking how nobody in that network writes about Israel. Nobody except for me. Instead, my feed is (to this day) dominated by people making posts about China-China-RED COMMUNIST CHINA. But even during the time when one of the most consequential wars in recent memory had just started in Israel... radio silence.
Israel is treated like country version of Voldemort: the country that shalt not be named.
I was just surprised to hear that he noticed the same thing and it's not just me. Why do you think this is happening?
